Breakfast in the hotel and thereafter, commence your exploring tour in Sri Lanka. Leave for Sigiriya en route visiting the elephant orphanage in Pinnawla. Before leaving Negombo you can have a glance at the Negombo fishing village which is a very active place early in the morning.

Arrive in Pinnawela, and visit the famous Elephant Orphanage – it’s a home for about 60 elephants found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. They are being cared, fed, and trained by the wildlife authority. The best time to visit, is feeding & bathing time. Here, you may get a chance to interact with those gentle giants.

After breakfast, leave for Polonnaruwa to explore the historical medieval capital of Sri Lanka with magnificent statues of Buddha carved out of one block of granite at the Gal Vihara site.

On your way back, it would be interesting to visit a wood carving center to see typical artists engage in wood carving manually.

The next stop is at a village house to experience  the preparation of different Sri Lankan dishes and culinary methods being used. Enjoy your mouthwatering lunch there before returning to Sigiriya.

Upon arrival to Sigiriya, start your ascending on Lion Rock.

Well-known historical site, “Lion Rock” is  situated in the proximity of your hotel. This rock monolith is one of the most important landmarks in Sri Lanka. A visitor can see well-advanced water gardens and elegant damsels. Lion’s Rock is a  marvelous example of the Sri Lankan skilled artists’ work during the ancient era. En route, visit  Dambulla historical caves filled with Buddha statues and colorful traditional paintings.

The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

After this visit, continue towards Matale, the famous spice region. You may visit one of the spices gardens to learn about the spices being used in traditional culinary methods and medicines in Sri Lanka.

Arrive in Kandy, and witness a cultural dance performance in a Kandyan cultural center.
