After breakfast, leave for Polonnaruwa to explore the historical medieval capital of Sri Lanka with magnificent statues of Buddha carved out of one block of granite at the Gal Vihara site.

On your way back, visit a wood carving center to see typical artists engage in wood carvings manually.

The next stop is at a village house to learn the preparation of different Sri Lankan dishes and the culinary methods being used by them. There, you can enjoy a mouthwatering lunch.

Upon arrival at Sigiriya, start ascending on Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO heritage site. You will be impressed by its ancient constructions dated the 05^thc century AD comprising manmade water gardens and famous frescoes with heavenly damsels.

The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

Continue towards Matale, the famous spice region, You may visit one of the spices gardens to learn about the spices being used in traditional culinary methods and in medicines in Sri Lanka.

Arrive in Kandy, and witness a cultural dance performance in a Kandyan cultural center.
